The publication accompanying the MOCA show also addresses the role of the curators and critics who supported the movement, including Jane Kaufmann, John Perreault, Jeff Perrone, and particularly Amy Goldin, whose vibrant voice was lost tragically early when she died of cancer in April 1978. It is the most thematically broad and visually intense show of the lot, while MOCA’s “With Pleasure” is arguably the most scholarly. Serve - Serve the fish immediately after it comes off the grill. You can use an instant-read thermometer to test the internal temperature of the fish. If the fish is cooking too quickly reduce your grill to medium heat. Grill for 6 to 8 minutes or until the fish begins releasing some moisture, flip the fillets and grill for 2 minutes or until the fish is flaky. Grill the Fish - Place the fillets, skin side down, on the grill. Sprinkle the spice mixture across the fleshy side of the fish fillets. Blot off any excess water with some paper towels. Brush fish with olive oil. Prepare the Fish - If your snapper is frozen, allow it to defrost and come to room temperature. Make the Spice Mixture - Mix the paprika, garlic powder, salt, cayenne, onion powder, oregano, thyme, and black pepper together in a small bowl. Clean the grill grates as the fish will go directly on them. Heat the Grill - Bring a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Optional Toppings - You can serve the fish with lemon or lime wedges and chopped fresh parsley. You'll use 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, ½ teaspoon of kosher salt, ½ teaspoon of cayenne, ½ teaspoon of onion powder, ½ teaspoon of dried oregano, ¼ teaspoon of dried thyme, and ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper. Seasonings - You'll make a cajun seasoning blend for this recipe. You don't need to use extra-virgin olive oil for this, use the cheaper stuff! Olive Oil - You'll coat the fillets in 1 ½ tablespoons of olive oil. They should have the skin on (this will help them stay together on the grill) and be 5 to 6 ounces each. Red Snapper Fillets - You'll need 2 red snapper fillets. It's similar to other white fish with its sweet, slightly nutty flavor. It's a great fish for people who don't like fishy tasting fish, like kids and people who enjoy milder fish. Red snapper is a mild, rosy-colored white fish with a firm texture and sweet flavor. That’s no easy task even when working in one medium at a time, as anyone who watched the final season of Game of Thrones or has waited for the final books of A Song of Ice and Fire can attest. Yet as the franchise wraps up both on television and with its ninth novel, Leviathan Falls, which hit shelves at the end of November, its creators had to confront a unique challenge: how to craft a satisfying conclusion to a beloved genre series in two different mediums, releasing separately within weeks of each other. 10 on its list of the 100 best sci-fi TV shows of all time, and last year the novels won a Hugo Award-the most prominent in science fiction-for Best Series. Rotten Tomatoes’ editorial team ranked The Expanse no. Centering on humanity’s exploration of the solar system and beyond a few hundred years into the future, the series combines a richly developed world with memorable characters and brisk pacing. Along with the television series-which has aired on two different networks-have come nine books, numerous complementary novellas and comics, role-playing and board games, and hundreds upon hundreds of plot twists, shifting alliances, and torpedo rounds fired by the Rocinante, the series’ flagship and spiritual-if not also physical-home.Įven in a mass of bold, imaginative space operas that have reinvigorated the genre in the last decade, The Expanse shines bright. Its callback this season emphasizes just how far The Expanse’s story has traveled. “The Canterbury? I haven’t thought about that in a while,” one says.Īnd neither, most likely, have the series’ fans-the Canterbury exploded six years ago, for television viewers, or 10 years ago, for readers of the novels upon which the show is based. Midway through the sixth and final season of The Expanse, which premieres on Amazon on Friday, two characters reminisce about the Canterbury, the ice hauler whose destruction all the way back in the show’s pilot catalyzes the exhilarating plot to come. But for me, I don't regret watching the series first and it probably made me like the setting a little more than I would have reading before watching.Editor’s note: Following the series finale of The Expanse, we are recirculating this piece, which originally ran prior to the Season 6 premiere. In the books, not so much.Īll that said, really liked most of the book series and like others recommend reading them because there is just a lot of stuff that couldn't make it into the series (like the last third of the story). The Roci's crew and Ashford reached the same point of primary conflict in both versions, but in the series both sides had well thought out positions and logical reasons to be in conflict. A perfect example is Ashford, who was a one-dimensional martinet in the books but was a brilliantly fleshed out character in the series. This isn't particularly surprising given then a whole team of writers got to spend a lot of time working with the original source material and the original writers to polish it. I fairly dislike the book Dawes (not the writing or anything, just don't like the guy) but like Harris' version even tho many of the lines were the same.Īlso, from a drama perspective, there are chunks of the show that are just better. To a lesser extent the same for Harris' Dawes. I would have had a much different mental picture of Amos from just the character descriptions and feel like Chatham just knocked it out of the park.
